Ethical Theory Comparison of Ethical Theories
Make an ethical decision to take full advantage of the benefit/good and minimize the damage to the public. An individual should judge an action by looking at the consequences, and evaluate the good and the bad effects on all individuals affected by it (Richard T. De George, 2006). Decision-making process First, an individual should ???recognize an ethical issue??? to judge if the situation is harmful to anyone (Manuel Velasquez, 2009). Second, an individual should ???get the facts??? to understand the fact of the situation and prepare options to act (Manuel Velasquez, 2009). Third, ???evaluate alternative actions??? to evaluate the action that produces the most good and do the least harm. (Manuel Velasquez, 2009). Forth, make a final decision and act. Make a decision by evaluating the good and the bad effects on all individuals (Manuel Velasquez, 2009). Questions are important to ask when making a Deontological decision are:
1. Which groups and individuals will be implied or affected by different ways of resolving a moral conflict
2. What important rights are at stake in this situation
3. What important duties are you obliged, as a manager, to meet in this situation
4. In what ways can the conflict of duties be avoided or resolved??? (Larry Alexander, 2007). Characters like love, justice, kindness, truthfulness, and other virtue character is very important in virtue ethics. Virtue ethics is making high intellectual decisions. For example, a person needs to do something and live with the consequences. The decision making process is almost the same as the Utilitarianism Ethics but when making the final decision an individual should ask

-Workplace example An assistant manager in a company introduced person A to the job and was a very nice person. One day, the manager had an emergency and left the company earlier than usual. Person A has seen the assistant manager taking food from the company to the car. When person A asked her, the assistant manager said that she had to feed her young children. Company A Added rules to minimize sexual harassment. An individual should obey this rule and not break it even if there is a positive outcome from breaking it. In Deontological Ethics, the right is always over the good. An assistant manager lied and told the manager that the profit was $5000, but it was $10,000. She took the $5000 because she was short on her mortgage. She did not think about the consequences that she will face. She is facing virtue ethics because she is dishonest and unethical.
